Thank-you to everyone who joined us in 2018. Let's look to 2019 and beyond.

We have had a great year with many adventurous first time expeditions taking place to exciting new destinations. As we are almost at the end of 2018 let’s take a look at some of the highlights…

In February we took a large international team up Kilimanjaro, the highest summit in Africa at 5,895m above sea level. Thanks to the hard work of a hugely supportive team of Tanzanian guides, porters and cooks all the team reached the summit during a tough final day of ascent.

Our Tanzanian guides are well aware they are working with an LGBT group when they work for Pride Expeditions and sign up to our inclusive and non-discriminatory ethos. The news in Tanzania in 2018 has not been positive for LGBT people. We believe in challenging discrimination not by boycotting the country but rather by promoting the positives for those who welcome us to Tanzania and who don’t discriminate.

The Summer months are a great time to visit the Julian Alps and this year was no exception! This was our second year of running the Slovenia Adventure Week and this year was a great one.

This week long expedition is a Pride Expedition in an adrenaline filled nut-shell. We pack in a bit of excitement in a Via Ferrata to the top of Triglav, a wilderness experience in the form of a multi-day hike staying in some beautiful mountain huts and an adventurous days rafting on the emerald Soca river. All in the safe hands of experienced and supportive Slovenian guides.

In August our Managing Director, Nick Read, led a circuit of Mont Blanc, taking in 110km of alpine scenery and three European countries. This iconic trek was a first for Pride Expeditions and was well planned and executed as it’s not a walk in the park! The team trekked for 6-days and really had to come together offering help and encouragement to those who were struggling on what is probably the toughest trek Pride Expeditions’ offers! The trek was loved by all and we will certainly look at doing this again soon.

This Autumn we hit a record and took our largest team ever to Nepal to trek up to Poon Hill and raft the mighty Kalighandaki river. With seventeen lovely people to look after the whole Pride Expeditions team was involved including our hard-working and loyal local guides. Every time we work with our Nepali guides they make us realize that it does not matter who you are or who you love, we all have a common aim and that is to succeed in climbing our mountain or rafting our river. They are hugely supportive of Pride Expeditions and a heart-felt ‘Thanks’ goes out to them for always being there for Pride Expeditions’ teams…

Not forgetting our second Happy Himalaya team who are currently rafting the mighty Kalighandaki river, we are starting to look to 2019 and the exciting trips we have already planned. In late March our first team will be going out to climb up to Everest Base Camp, closely followed by teams going to Morocco to climb Jebel Toubkhal, we a have summer trips to Iceland and Slovenia and then the Autumn and our Nepali trips will start in earnest.

We welcome everyone to join us on our expeditions, so long as you support our ethos of promoting equality for LGBT people around the globe. There is an expedition for everyone, not all are tough or overly challenging but of course every one is an adventure!
