Achieving your dreams can sometimes be a little scary!

I have always enjoyed pushing myself and seeing where my physical and metal barriers lie. Today I learn't that there is a fine line between your dreams and your nightmares. Not that today was a nightmare in the negative sense. I have always wanted to climb on Gogarth main cliff but it's a cliff that has always managed to overstimulate my senses,  intimidating me into an easier venue or even the lovely cafe that is conveniently located next to the car park.

Gogarth, Main Wall

The route of choice today was called Gogarth. Appropriate indeed. But just one look at this cliff and we were thinking of excuses to retreat....so we went to the bottom of the cliff to see if the rock was dry. This is critical especially for the crux on the final section. Getting to the base of the cliff is not an easy task and is an adventure in itself.

The walk in

I had my Gogarth head on and was convinced it was about to rain. Then the sun came out. I was ever hopeful that we might have to retreat due to wet rock. The rock was bone dry. So we threw all our focus and effort at Gogarth. It was absorbing and terrifying and fun all at the same time. I began to relax a little, loose my Gogarth head and focus on the task ahead.

Gogarth  threw a few obstacles our way and we eventually overcame them and were justly rewarded. Pitch after pitch of wonderful climbing followed by desperately steep hold less walls.  Gogarth favours the bold for sure!

Getting to the top was such a relief. It was a terrifying experience but a dream that I have been wanting to tick off for some time . I'm glad it's over but know that I'll be putting myself through it once again soon. Right now I am enjoying my cuppa and cake twice as much as I would have if I had thought of a decent enough excuse to retreat to the cafe before the day really began...Now onto ticking off the next dream. Life tastes sweeter after a little hardship!
